The Fort Peck Housing Authority, in partnership with the Fort Peck Tribes, will provide safe, decent and affordable housing opportunities for Native American families residing on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, by upgrading substandard housing, providing optimum service and building communities, through construction, modernization, training and maintenance activities.

It is a long-term goal of both the Fort Peck Tribes and Fort Peck Housing Authority that all tribal members living on the Fort Peck Reservation shall have the opportunity to live in decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing. The primary focus of this program is to perform inspections, write Scope of Work, and award contracts to complete new construction homes and rehabilitation work designated for rehab under the Indian Housing Block Grant Program. The specific work is to be determined by the age of the units that have not already been renovated. Due to the limited amount of funds available for this purpose, the MOdernization Program has been prioritized as follows:

In order to ensure the long-term viability of the existing housing units owned and managed by the FPHA, it shall be a first priority of this goal to ensure that these housing units, including all units currently under either Rental or Mutual Help programs constructed under the 1937 Housing Act, are in a decent, safe and sanitary condition. Physical needs assessments are conducted every year to determine what work will be performed.

The Fort Peck Housing Authority is encouraged to propose projects that are part of a comprehensive plan to address housing conditions in their communities, including overcrowding and physically deteriorating units, as appropriate. The FPHA is to engage in long-term planning to ensure that the project being proposed is part of a plan that considers planned future infrastructure development and economic development opportunities.

On an as-needed basis, funds will be provided to perform emergency repairs to privately owned homes of low-income families. Repairs will be limited to those necessary to eliminate conditions affecting the health and/or safety of the occupants.
